All About

InsideOut Climbing

InsideOut Climbing came into being in the Summer of 2021 in response to the need for individual climbing instruction at The Red Goat Bouldering Wall and my retirement from full time secondary teaching. InsideOut Climbing is myself - Dave Hosier.

Quite simply climbing has been a huge part of my adult life. Evenings, weekends and holidays are spent mainly climbing. I love it! In the early 1980’s I began using rudimentary climbing walls in the South East before joining the South Devon Mountaineering Club and progressing to real rock. Since then climbing has literally taken me to wonderful and spectacular places all over the world. From the boulders, outcrops, sea cliffs, and mountain crags of the UK, to fantastic climbing throughout Europe and the Alps, Adventures in Australia and experiences in the Himalayas.

Over the years I have done bouldering, sport climbing, and mainly “trad” climbing as well as competed in bouldering and lead competitions. In the early 1990’s I trained as a teacher with a key element being PE with outdoor education. In 1993 I came to work in York and in 1995 I gained what is now the Rock Climbing Instructors (RCI) award.

Whilst I had worked in Outdoor Centres as an instructor in the late 80’s I then used the award in schools and for the local authority running and supporting climbing sessions for young people. Over the years I have also used my skills to introduce family and friends to climbing and the outdoors.

I am now offering my wealth of experience and climbing knowledge to you. Time with me will be safe, fun and rewarding. Above all I hope you come away as hooked on climbing as I am.
